“I believe that the fulfillment of the mission for New Threads of Hope provides a large number of disadvantaged people with not only new clothing, but more importantly lets them know that people in our community do care about them and want to help them help themselves. ”

NewThreads of Hope, a Wisconsin-based nonprofit charity, accomplishes its mission through an innovative gifts-in-kind program that links manufacturers and retailers and their surplus products, samples, returns and past season lines with social service agencies, schools and faith-based communities. We provide the warehousing, sorting, processing, and distribution services that make all these products available to those who need them.

Who We Are

NewThreads of Hope was incorporated as a Wisconsin nonprofit gift-in-kind charity in 1990 under the name of CorpCare Distributions. In the last 20 years of reaching out to our neighbors here in the greater Milwaukee community, across the country and abroad, NewThreads has distributed over 2.5 million articles of brand-new apparel, footwear, and household items. As a sign of our commitment to the next 20 years and the redoubling of our efforts to provide new clothes for new opportunities to those in need, we are now operating under our new name: NewThreads of Hope.

Our mission is still the same: to provide brand-new apparel, footwear, bed and bath, and household items to nonprofit agencies serving the needs of the poor, the ill, children, and seniors, so that they may live more self-sufficient, independent and hope-filled lives.

NewThreads of Hope links manufacturers and retailers and their surplus products, samples, returns and past season lines with community-based social service agencies, schools and faith-based organizations. We provide the warehousing, as well as volunteers for sorting, processing, and distribution services that make all these products usable and available to those who need them.

With a paid staff of two full-time and one part-time employees and an annual budget of $300,000, NewThreads relies heavily on the volunteer efforts of our directors and the community at large to fulfill our mission. No individual pays even a dime for merchandise receivedthrough NewThreads of Hope. It costs us on average between 90-95¢ per item to acquire, warehouse, process, and distribute our merchandise; the average donated value of each item is between $25-$30. We sell nothing. Our entire income comes from gifts and donations.

NewThreads does not make any direct distributions to individuals; rather over the years we have formed partnerships with hundreds of different nonprofit health and human services and faith-based programs that reach out to a wide variety of people in need: single moms looking for work, the homeless, children living in poverty, refugees, victims of natural disasters, the mentally ill, foster families, seniors, and families and individuals just struggling to keep their heads above water in these tough economic times.
